Refuge Cézanne
The place
Unstaffed refuge at 1877 m at the foot of the south face of the Écrins, in the commune of Pelvoux (Hautes-Alpes, Parc national des Écrins, Pays des Écrins). Basic two-storey chalet serving mountaineers and hikers. Capacity of 12 places in dormitory. Open outside the summer season only (late September to early June), when the neighbouring hut is closed. Equipment: duvets, blankets, running water, dishes, kitchen equipment, heating, pets accepted. Access from the village of Pelvoux (tunnel) in 3h for 600 m of ascent. Départ du village de Pelvoux (tunnel) ; 600 m de dénivelé, environ 3h00 de montée depuis le tunnel de Pelvoux.
The setting
Le refuge est situé au pied de la face sud des Écrins (4102 m), au croisement des sentiers du glacier Noir et du glacier Blanc. Faune locale : chamois et marmottes.
