The place
Historic Italian bivouac shelter at 3684 m, a few metres from the Col de la Fourche on the south-east ridge of the Mont Maudit (Mont Blanc massif), Brenva side. Dedicated to Corrado Alberico and Luigi Borgna, two mountaineers from Turin who died in an avalanche below the Col de la Brenva while attempting a first ascent on 17 August 1932. Built in 1935, rebuilt in 1985. Completely destroyed by a rockfall on 26 August 2022; only debris remains on the Brenva glacier, 300 m below.
