Simulador Tatico
The place
Simulador Tático ("Tactical Simulator") in the state of Rio de Janeiro, Rio de Janeiro/Guaratiba area (Zona Oeste, Brazil), at 5 m elevation, on Rio's western coastal plain. Continuous Brazil cluster (batches 331-352, 7 entries). COUNTRY ANOMALY: Brazil is absent. A military tactical-simulation facility (Brazilian Navy's Escola Naval or the Air Force's CIAAR flight-training school; its classification as a "refuge" is doubtful and derives from OSM), located within a Restinga zone — Brazil's unique coastal-dune ecosystem (100,000 km² of endemic coastal dune vegetation spanning Rio, Espírito Santo, and Bahia, much of it now urban) and near Marambaia, a restricted military island with restinga vegetation hosting 500 endemic species, 40% of them threatened. Reflects the heritage of the Tupinambá people (a pre-Columbian Tupi-Guarani people; Rio's "guarás", the scarlet ibis, is an emblem of the city) and of Brazil's 1500 founding, when Cabral landed on 22 April at the Costa do Descobrimento in Bahia.
