Rifugio "Patrick Gambino" ai Gerri di Grammondo
The place
Unstaffed refuge on the north-east slope of Mont Grammondo (1,378 m), locality of Gerri, in the Ligurian Alps (Italy), very close to the French border. Owned and managed by CAI Ventimiglia. Keys available from the Olivetta San Michele town hall. Capacity of 14 beds. Dedicated to the memory of Patrick Gambino. Access from the Italian side from Ventimiglia and Olivetta San Michele, from the French side from Sospel and Castellar. A stage on the new international trail between the Passo Valletta (Longoira) and the French GR 2 coming from Castellar.

Plusieurs villages de la vallée de la Bevera — Olivetta San Michele, Torri et San Pancrazio — servent de points de départ aux randonneurs qui rejoignent le Monte Grammondo via ce refuge.
The setting
Bâti en pierre sur un seul niveau avec une toiture en onduline rouge, le refuge se dresse sur le versant nord-est du Mont Grammondo (1378 m au sommet), dans les Préalpes de Nice / Alpes Ligures, non loin de la frontière franco-italienne. Non gardienné, il offre 14 places auxquelles s'ajoute une petite salle d'hiver de 2 places. Les clés se retirent à la mairie d'Olivetta San Michele ou à l'Agriturismo La Casa di Remo.
A bit of history
À 1010 m d'altitude, non loin du sommet du Monte Grammondo, à cheval sur la frontière italo-française, le rifugio Patrick Gambino appartient au CAI (Club Alpino Italiano) de Vintimille ; il a été rebâti en 1995 et propose 14 places de couchage.
