Refugio Tucúquere
The place
Refuge at the end of the Roca Azul trail, 10.8 km from the car park, very close to a small sheltered bay of Lago Belgrano in Perito Moreno National Park (Santa Cruz, Argentine Patagonia — not Chile). In the forest surrounding the refuge lives a pair of Tucúqueres (Magellanic horned owls), which gives the shelter its name — a symbol of wisdom and serenity linked to Patagonian wilderness. Located between two large bays with calm waters, sheltered from the wind. Camping areas and a dry toilet just a short walk away. A stage on the "Circuito Azara," which serves several refuges in the park (Tucúquere, La Angostura, Azara). Bookings by email at peritomoreno@apn.gob.ar — mandatory registration of mountain activities.
