A mining or ranger refuge near Cazadera Grande (a 4,842 m summit close to the Salvador copper mine, run by Codelco, the world's 3rd-largest copper producer at 5.5 Mt/year), located in the Atacama puna altiplano (7,000,000 ha, the largest high-altitude desert in the world) and home to the Andean James's flamingo, Phoenicoparrus jamesi (100% of the roughly 300 flamingos nest exclusively in high-altitude lagoons of the northern altiplano, including the Salar Maricunga).
