Refuge de Liat

The place

Unguarded refuge at 2260 m in the Val d'Aran (Catalan Pyrenees), managed by the F.E.E.C. (Federació d'Entitats Excursionistes de Catalunya). North of the Liat track, at the eastern end of the old cable car that runs along the north face of a former abandoned mining site. Inside: 1 table with 6 stools, 1 large stove, 4 metal bunk beds (with 3 mattresses), 1 loft with a wooden floor, 1 first-aid station. Stream crossing the track just before the refuge, on the east side. No forest on the horizon, but among the surrounding ruins you can find old pieces of wood.
