Refuge de la Selle

The place

Refuge at 2673 m in the Écrins National Park, 3h walk from the village of Saint-Christophe-en-Oisans (Hautes-Alpes). For several years has faced a serious water-supply problem, with the main springs drying up during heatwaves. A new water intake was created near the Selle glacier but the water doesn't flow properly through the pipes. Closed early since 12 August 2025 due to lack of water; a similar situation occurred in 2023. A renovation project is underway for the upper Vénéon valley, severely affected by the June 2024 floods.
