Moose Creek Cabin
The place
Public, non-electrified cabin in the White Mountains National Recreation Area in Alaska (BLM Fairbanks District), located at approximately 65°13'35" N, 147°36'17" W. Maximum capacity of eight people. Equipment: wood stove for heating, bunks, and a table. No running water, no electricity. Dogs allowed, fires permitted. Reservation required via recreation.gov, check-in and check-out at noon. Access from the Wickersham Dome trailhead (Steese Highway and Elliott Highway from Fairbanks): approximately 16.5 miles (26.5 km). In winter: snowmobile, snowshoes, or cross-country skis; in summer (May 1 to October 14): ATV under difficult conditions. Part of a network of more than 250 miles of winter trails connecting twelve public cabins. Very popular in winter for wildlife viewing and the northern lights.
