Fred Blixt Cabin

The place

Primitive cabin with no electricity or running water, managed in the White Mountains National Recreation Area, interior Alaska (United States). Access from mile marker 62.5 on the east side of the Elliott Highway, a narrow 500-foot access driveway (winter-maintained by the Bureau of Land Management). Maximum capacity of six people, wheelchair-accessible with a front deck and entrance ramp. Facilities: wood stove, campfires allowed; wood not provided. Pets accepted. Check-in and check-out at noon. Open year-round, road-accessible, an ideal getaway for hiking, berry picking and wildlife viewing in summer, snowshoeing, cross-country skiing and aurora viewing in winter.
