Estancia Cóndor Cliff
The place
Patagonian estancia on the shore of Lago San Martín in the province of Santa Cruz (Argentina), 285 km from El Calafate. Spread over 35 km of lake shoreline broken up by peninsulas, deep cliffs and small beaches, the estate includes about 1300 hectares of native lenga, coihue and ñire forest. The landscape is rougher and wetter than the rest of southern Patagonia, with great climatic and vegetation variability. Wildlife to be seen includes Andean condors passing at cliff height, eagles, upland geese, mergansers, woodpeckers and firecrowns. Activities on offer: hiking through native forest, treks to lookout points over the lake, horseback riding and kayaking in calm coves. Member of the Cielos Patagónicos association, which converts former ranches to conservation use.
