The place

Rustic, primitive cabin with no electricity or running water in the White Mountains National Recreation Area, interior Alaska (United States). Maximum capacity of six people. Pets and campfires allowed. Mountain views. Several access routes: from the Wickersham Dome Trailhead (mile 28 Elliott Highway) then 30 miles via the Wickersham Creek and Fossil Creek trails; from the Colorado Creek Trailhead (mile 57 Elliott Highway) then 31 miles via Colorado Creek and Fossil Gap; or by floating in on Beaver Creek with about 4 miles of walking to the cabin. Mainly used in winter (skiing, snowshoeing, snowmobiling, dog mushing); ATVs prohibited from 1 May to 14 October. Check-in and check-out at 12 pm. Cabin within a million-acre trail network with more than 250 miles of groomed winter trails and 12 public cabins. Booking required via recreation.gov.
