Cabane de berger du Chardonnet

The place

Shepherd's hut at 2219 m in the Cerces massif (Hautes-Alpes), about 300 m east of the Chardonnet refuge. Destroyed by an accidental fire during the night of 31 August 2012 on a very windy night; the shepherd, his wife and granddaughter escaped unharmed. No rebuilding since. Not to be confused with the staffed Chardonnet refuge (2223 m) which welcomes hikers during the tourist season.
