The place
The Cabane de Barguérasses is a small stone shelter at 1355 m elevation in the Couserans (Ariège), near a yellow-marked trail linking the Ruech car park to the Col de l'Herbe Soulette. Shown as a shelter on the IGN map. Two-pitch roof, rebuilt wooden frame but uninsulated: tables and benches present, but no organized sleeping arrangement. Capacity 2 people as an emergency shelter (summer and winter). Firewood available. Small shelter not intended for a comfortable overnight stay.
