Bivacco Speranza

The place

Bivouac at 2268 m between the Lago della Vacca and the Colle ovest del Sabbione, in the Sabbione valley (Italian Maritime Alps, commune of Entracque, province of Cuneo). Strategic position for crossings between the Valle Gesso, the Casterino valley on the French side and the Colle di Tenda. Set up in spring 2017 by Giuseppe (Beppe) Bosio in a former military barracks, with three bunk beds for 9 sleeping places and essential furnishings — Beppe having carried everything up on foot. Always open. Access from Entracque (Ponte Porcera, 4h30, or Ponte del Suffiet, 4h with a suitable vehicle) or from the Baisse de Peirafique in the Haute Roya on the French side (2h).
