The place

Two-storey building at 2420 m at the heart of the Mercantour National Park (Alpes-Maritimes), 400 m above Lac de Fenestre, accessible from Saint-Martin-Vésubie via the Madone de Fenestre. Built in a hurry by the Italians shortly before World War II to house the crews of the bunkers below on either side. Open to all (especially ibex): windows and doors no longer close. Part of an old wooden sleeping platform remains, where you can lay down sleeping mats (or pitch a tent). No beds, mattresses, blankets, water nearby, toilets, wood, stove or utensils.
