The place

A small unstaffed shelter in the nature reserve, sometimes used by rangers. Dismantled and completely rebuilt in August 2012 by volunteers from Sixt-Fer-à-Cheval: 2 mattresses, several blankets, table, benches. Very small, isolated, no lock (but the door closes), with a small window. No heating, no toilets, no water (a small pond lies a few dozen meters away). An interesting route toward the Buet (tricky, shale terrain, no marked trail, but very beautiful). Access via Les Fonds (a steep trail at the start) or via the Frêtes de Villy (a path with a dangerous ridge section in bad weather). Also accessible from the Prés de Salenton, below the Col de Salenton, for experienced hikers. Best attempted in summer and in dry conditions only.
