Yankee River Hut

The place

Standard 16-bunk hut managed by the Department of Conservation (DOC) in Rakiura National Park, on Stewart Island/Rakiura (Southland, New Zealand), at 6 meters elevation. Rates until 30 June 2026: 10 NZD/night adult, 5 NZD youth (5-17 years), free under 5. No booking: payment by Standard Hut Ticket deposited in the honesty box or by annual Backcountry Hut Pass. Untreated tank water must be boiled before drinking (high rat presence on the island).
