The place

Serviced DOC hut with 31 bunks in Westland Tai Poutini National Park (Glaciers area, West Coast). Dormitory rooms upstairs in the main building. Sierra Room annex sleeping up to 4 people for exclusive use, with pot-belly wood stove, shower and basic kitchen. Access via the Copland Track (subject to closure in severe weather and floods). Facilities: gas cookers to be supplied by visitors, shared toilets. Open year-round — Backcountry Hut Pass valid only from 1 May to 30 September. Rates (until 30 June 2026): main hut NZ$30 adult/night, NZ$15 youth (5-17), free under 5; Sierra Room NZ$145/night for 1-4 people. Online booking mandatory, no space held without a reservation.
