Watersprite Lake Cabin
The place
Backcountry cabin of the British Columbia Mountaineering Club (BCMC), perched on a rocky spur above the Watersprite Lake access trail, east of Squamish in the Mamquam watershed (British Columbia, Canada). Opened in September 2017, it is the first cabin built by the BCMC since 1986. Capacity of 10 people, rented as a full-cabin booking — $300/night for private use, $600/night for commercial use. A spectacular alpine setting just outside Garibaldi Provincial Park, an alternative to the region's better-known refuges. The trailhead is about 20 km up a series of Forest Service Roads east of Squamish. Ideal terrain for scrambling and summer hiking, and moderate-to-challenging ski touring in winter. Right nearby: the Watersprite Lake Provincial Recreation Site (14 alpine tent platforms + 6 tent sites), managed by the BCMC in partnership with BC Rec Sites and Trails.
Getting there
Trailhead ~20 km up the FSRs from Squamish (to the east). BCMC full-cabin booking ($300/night private, $600 commercial).
