Rifugio Case Sant'Antonio
The place
Former property of the monks of Vallombrosa at 930 m altitude, part of the Foresta di Sant'Antonio, which together with the Vallombrosa State Reserve forms a Natura 2000 site on the western slope of the Pratomagno massif (municipality of Reggello, FI). The bivouac has six sleeping spaces (three bunk beds), a wooden table, a stove; outside, four cooking fire spots and a source of drinking water. The Centro Case di Sant'Antonio, run by the Effetto Foresta association, is an innovative multipurpose center dedicated to Outdoor Education, forest-bathing activities, biodiversity conservation, and training in partnership with institutions and universities. The forest is crossed by 18 km of marked trails extending toward Vallombrosa, the summit of the Pratomagno, or the Casentino valley.
