Refuge du Grenairon
The place
Staffed refuge located in the Pays du Mont-Blanc, Sixt-Fer-à-Cheval sector (Haute-Savoie). Distinctive feature: offers geodesic dome tents for sleeping "with your head in the stars" and houses a goat farm. Restaurant and catering on site. Reopening planned for June 2026 after seasonal closure.
Getting there
Depuis le parking du pont de Nant Sec (896 m) : 2 itinéraires, chacun 3h30 / +1050 m, par le sentier des Gardes ou par les chalets des Crépines. Depuis le parking Hameau de Passy (1000 m) : 2h30 / +900 m par le sentier des Gardes. Le refuge est une étape clé de l'ascension du Mont Buet (3096 m).
The setting
Le refuge se situe sur le versant du Mont Buet, décrit comme « le point de vue Mont-Blanc par excellence ». Une chèvrerie (La Ferme de Passy) fait paître ses bêtes sur l'alpage attenant depuis 2014, et le potager du refuge cultive de la salade malgré l'altitude.
