The place
Unstaffed refuge set at 1210 m in the Vercors massif (Isère, commune of Méaudre), offering considerable comfort for an unstaffed hut. Remarkable equipment: numerous chairs, large tables, a vast fireplace, a room with bunk beds on the ground floor, a dormitory upstairs with mattresses. Capacity of 15 beds. Classic access: from Méaudre, via the hamlet of Cochet, then a forest road climbing to the left. Important note: access forbidden in winter as the sector is used as a ski area. Located on the fringe of the Vercors Regional Nature Park, in the high plateaus of the Vercors-Quatre-Montagnes. Exceptional forest setting of the high plateaus: high-altitude beech-fir forests, summer grazing pastures, landscapes typical of the Vercors Regional Nature Park created in 1970. Emblematic wildlife: chamois (reintroduced population), ibex, marmot, black grouse, golden eagle, peregrine falcon. A stopover on the themed loops of the Vercors Quatre-Montagnes (Autrans, Méaudre, Lans-en-Vercors).
Getting there
From Méaudre (Isère) via the hamlet of Cochet, forest road to the left. Access FORBIDDEN in winter (ski area).
