Refuge de Notre Dame de Lure

The place

Very basic refuge at 1230 m on the Montagne de Lure (Saint-Étienne-les-Orgues, Alpes-de-Haute-Provence), no toilets or electricity, reserved exclusively for hikers without a vehicle. Right next to it stands the Abbaye Notre-Dame de Lure, a 12th-century monastery once home to monks of the Order of Chalais. Source de Notre-Dame de Lure nearby. Since June 2024: the hermit who watched over the refuge died in early 2024, no one oversees it any more, the door has been forced, the interior is in a dreadful state with mouse droppings in the upstairs sleeping areas.
