The place
A very beautiful natural rock shelter at 1698 m in the Préalpes de Digne (Alpes-de-Haute-Provence, Trois-Évêchés sector), formerly used by shepherds. Stacked sleeping platforms on two levels with mattresses, saw, axe, jerry cans, wood, stove replaced in 2015 and working very well. Capacity 15 people. Water accessible a few metres away down a path towards the Issole valley (10 minutes), another spring 10 minutes away on the path to the Col de Chalufy but with low flow. Access from La Valette via a wooden bridge over the Issole, path along the river then crossing it and descending into the Issole valley — about 2h on a waymarked path.
