Refuge d'art du Vieil Esclangon

The place

Former building in the abandoned hamlet of Vieil Esclangon, at 1,060 m in the commune of La Javie (Alpes-de-Haute-Provence, Préalpes de Digne), restored to host a sculpture by British land-art artist Andy Goldsworthy and a refuge. One of the seven "Refuges d'Art" along the 150 km hiking route created by Goldsworthy in partnership with the Musée Gassendi and the Haute-Provence UNESCO Geopark. Capacity of 5 places on wooden sleeping platforms without mattresses, table and benches, fireplace, outdoor dry toilets. Reservation required through the Musée Gassendi on 04 92 31 45 29. After paying the museum entry fee (€7.50), the refuge key can be booked.
