Refuge d'art de la Ferme Belon

The place

Art refuge at 950 m in Draix (Alpes-de-Haute-Provence), created by British artist Andy Goldsworthy in partnership with the Musée Gassendi and the Haute-Provence UNESCO Geopark. Restored in 2003, it is one of seven refuges on the Refuge d'Art trail, a 150 km European route crossing the outstanding landscapes of the Geopark and blending contemporary art, hiking and heritage. Site of remembrance: the hamlet of Belon housed a Resistance officer training school during the Second World War, attacked and burned by the Germans in February 1944. Restricted access: booking required through the Musée Gassendi on 04 92 31 45 29 (along with la Forest and le Vieil Esclangon, it is one of three refuges on the trail with controlled access).
