Refuge Agnel
The place
A staffed hut in the Queyras at 2580 m, on the GR 58 trail (Tour du Queyras), reached in 2h30-3h from the Pont de l'Ariane (Molines) with 500 m of elevation gain over 8 km. A former Napoleonic-era shelter predating 1930, converted into a staffed hut in 1973 and extensively renovated since (dormitories redone in 2022, capacity of 6 to 10 people per dormitory). Two hot showers (limited to 2 min 45, 9 L flow) and two toilets. Solar power, no device charging, scarce water at 2.5 L/min at the source. Summer season from 9 June to 19 September 2026, winter openings late December and late January-early April. Half-board adult €59.12, child under 12 €42. Pets not allowed.
Getting there
Accès principal : depuis le Pont de l'Ariane (Molines-en-Queyras), compter 2h30 à 3h de marche, environ 8km et +500m de dénivelé. Deux autres itinéraires existent : via le Pic Caramantran depuis Saint-Véran (12km, +1000m/-450m) et via l'Échalp (10km, +230m/-1100m).
The setting
Le refuge est situé à 2580m dans le vallon de Bouchouse (Queyras), au pied du Pain de Sucre (3210m) et aux portes du Mont Viso (3848m), à la frontière franco-italienne. Paysages alpestres alliant douceur de l'alpage (flore arctique, lacs) et rudesse minérale de la haute montagne. Randonnées à la journée possibles vers le Pain de Sucre, le Pic Caramantran et le Lac Foréant.
