Port Adventure Hunters Hut

The place

Basic hut with six bunks intended for hunters, maintained by the Rakiura Hunter Camps Trust on Stewart Island/Rakiura (Southland, New Zealand). Original building constructed by the Marine Department in 1981, renovated in 2007. Facilities: multi-fuel burners, rainwater, mattresses, benches, toilet; no cooking utensils or cooking equipment. Water must be boiled before drinking (heavy rat presence). Self-sufficient access with no DOC track: navigation by map, compass and GPS. Booking required at the Rakiura National Park Visitor Centre. Rate NZD30 per person for a stay of up to 10 days.
