The place

Rustic shelter in the Cranberry Portage area, northern Manitoba (Canada), on the Carlisle - South McRae - Logpile trail, which runs along Carlisle and Burley lakes. Small wooden cabin serving as a stopover for hikers, winter cross-country skiers and summer mountain bikers, typical of the free shelters built by local clubs and the province in the boreal forest of the Canadian Shield. Unstaffed, bring your own gear; seasonal use marked by the Canadian winter (very low temperatures, ice on the lakes). Boreal setting of conifers and glacial lakes.

Getting there

Carlisle - South McRae - Logpile trail, Cranberry Portage area (northern Manitoba). Usable in summer and in winter for cross-country skiing.
