The place

USFS cabin on San Fernando Island, in the Tongass National Forest in southeast Alaska (United States), 8 miles west of Craig and 70 miles from Ketchikan. Small 15 x 17 foot cedar structure with metal roof and deck, six bunks in total (a loft sleeping four and a bunk bed sleeping two). Basic equipment: wood stove, table, benches, kitchen area, outdoor toilet. No drinking water on site — bring your own for all uses. Visitors should bring food, sleeping bags, mattresses, stove and fuel, dishes, lighting, toilet paper, a first-aid kit, and garbage bags. Access by boat or floatplane at high tide, self-service mooring buoy. Booking required (reservation holder must be an adult); weather conditions may extend a stay by 2 to 5 days, so bring extra supplies. Contact Craig Ranger District +1 907 826 3271.
