The place

Hut built in 1938-1939 by Peter Grubb's friends and family in his honor, under the auspices of the Sierra Club, north of Donner Summit (Sierra Nevada, California, United States), at 2,388 meters altitude, at Pacific Crest Trail mile marker 1160.8, about 0.9 miles north of Castle Pass. Large two-story cabin with a wood stove, a sleeping loft accommodating up to 15 people (up to 20 in some configurations), adjoining storage for wood and maintenance, and a separate outdoor toilet. Human-powered access only: about 3 miles on foot or by ski. Reservation required (Clair Tappaan Lodge / Sierra Club).
