North Tikotatahi Hunters Hut

The place

A hunters' hut managed by the Rakiura Hunter Camps Trust, on Stewart Island/Rakiura (Southland), within Rakiura National Park. Six bunks with mattresses, multi-fuel stove, bench, food store, toilet and a 1000 L rainwater tank. No kitchen or utensils provided. Fee of NZD 30 per person for the length of the stay, up to ten days maximum. Booking required via the Rakiura National Park Visitor Centre. No DOC-marked track: self-reliant navigation with map, compass or GPS. Tank water should be boiled: heavy rat presence on Stewart Island, possible contamination. Map CJ10, NZTM2000 E1232065, N4774000.
