Murray Hunters Hut

The place

6-bunk hut in Rakiura National Park on Stewart Island, managed by the Rakiura Hunter Camps Trust. Built in 2014 by volunteer hunters from Southland and the West Coast. Multi-fuel stoves (wood must be brought in), 1,000 L tank, mattresses, food storage, toilets; no cooking utensils. Water must be boiled (rodent contamination). Booking required at the park visitor centre, $30 per person for up to 10 days.
