Monashee Chalet
The place
Backcountry lodge founded in 2000 by Interior Alpine Recreation in the Monashee Mountains of British Columbia, perched at 1,800 m near the treeline. The chalet sleeps 1 to 12 people in dormitory-style rooms with electricity and a shower, self-catered and independently guided. Access is self-propelled (ski, walking) or mechanized to the surface. Management requires a backcountry experience résumé with every booking, a sign of an experienced clientele. Summer programme: hiking, mountaineering, birdwatching, flora and fauna observation; winter programme: ski touring, ski mountaineering, snowboarding, snowshoeing, avalanche courses.
