Refuge des Marches

The place

Staffed hut at 2230 m in the commune of Orelle, between the Lac des Bataillères and the Lac de Bissorte, in the upper Maurienne (Savoie). A stage of the Tour du Mont Thabor (3178 m). Built in 2001: a single dormitory with several alcoves for more privacy, heating and hot showers included in half-board. Capacity of 24 people in season. No proper winter room; off-season, a small entrance vestibule and a small room (5 m² maximum) remain open and can shelter up to 4 people. Managed by the Communauté de Communes Maurienne-Galibier (not FFCAM).
