Rustic volunteer-maintained PRPAWS cabin (Powell River Parks and Wilderness Society, which maintains the 180 km Sunshine Coast Trail) named after "Manzanita" — Arbutus menziesii, the Pacific madrone, with its iconic peeling red bark on the Pacific West Coast — plus the Salish Sea, a 17,000 km² marine area home to the Southern Resident Killer Whales, a critically endangered resident population of 73 individuals (2024) as opposed to transient marine mammals, and the heritage of the Tla'amin (a Coast Salish people, Sliammon self-governance since 2016 following a 1985-2016 treaty process) plus the Xwémalhkwu Homalco First Nation at Bute Inlet and the Klahoose First Nation.
