The place

Standard 6-bunk DOC hut in the Ruataniwha Conservation Park (Canterbury), at 764 m. Access is a 9-10 hour walk over 33 km from Glen Lyon Station — prior authorization from the station is required (+64 3 438 9644 or +64 3 438 9642) whether traveling on foot or by vehicle. No bookings, payment via hut tickets or a Backcountry Hut Pass (10/5 NZ$ until 30 June 2026).
