The place

Basic hunting hut with 4 bunks at 47 m in Rakiura National Park (Stewart Island, Southland, NZ), managed by the Rakiura Hunter Camp Trust for hunters booking the surrounding hunting blocks. Multi-fuel stoves, rainwater tank (1,000 L), mattresses, benches, meat safe, toilets. No cooking equipment provided. Flat rate of $30/person regardless of length of stay (max 10 days). Untreated water — boil before use (rats present on the island). Booking required via the Rakiura National Park Visitor Centre.
