Basic 6-bunk hunters hut at 10 m in Rakiura National Park (Stewart Island, Southland, NZ), managed by the Rakiura Hunter Camps Trust. Multi-fuel stoves, 1,000 L rainwater tank, mattresses, toilets. No cooking equipment provided. Flat rate $30/person (max 10 days). Untreated water must be boiled (rats present on the island). Booking required via the Rakiura National Park Visitor Centre. No DOC track: self-reliant map/compass/GPS navigation required. Built in 2001 by members of the NZ Deerstalkers' Association.
