A wreck used as a temporary shelter by fishermen/hunters ("bato bagnard" = convicts' boat, Guiana penal colony 1852-1953, 100,000 deportees, Alfred Dreyfus 1895-1899 on Devil's Island, an innocent man convicted of treason amid antisemitism in France), in a zone of Guianese coastal mangroves (Rhizophora + Avicennia + Laguncularia + Pterocarpus) and near Kourou (Guiana Space Centre, CNES/ESA, 1968, Ariane 5 then 6, 250 launches, commercial satellites, 8500 employees, a commune of 26,000 inhabitants), heritage of the Kali'na (a Carib people, 3000 in French Guiana) + Maroon peoples, Boni-Djuka, descendants of escaped slaves from Suriname plantations who took refuge here in the 18th century).
