The place

A BC Parks backcountry shelter located at the end of the Elfin Lakes trail in the Diamond Head area of Garibaldi Provincial Park, east of Squamish (British Columbia). Very large capacity (33 beds: 11 double bunks and 11 singles), four picnic tables, four propane stoves, counters with two sinks, propane heating, solar lighting and dry toilets. Access via a trail of about 11 km from Diamond Head, 600 m of elevation gain, with an intermediate stop at Red Heather Meadows about 1 h into the walk. Very busy year-round: it's the only BC Parks backcountry shelter that can be booked online, and booking is mandatory in every season.
