The place
Recently built and well-equipped pastoral cabin located at 2050 m within the Mercantour National Park (Alpes-de-Haute-Provence), Villars-Colmars / Val d'Allos sector. Modern building offering good insulation and full facilities: table, benches, gas stove, saw, wood stove, solar panel for lighting, sleeping upstairs on mattresses. Outdoor bath in front of the cabin. Water is collected from a spring higher up and piped to the cabin via an indoor tap and sink. Occupied by a shepherd during the summer grazing season — public access is visual only during that period. Classic access via the Vallée de Chasse (above Villars-Colmars) where a track remains usable for several kilometers above the hamlet of Chasse. Located on the fringe of the Mercantour-Argentera, in the high summer-grazing valleys of the Val d'Allos. Outstanding mineral and pastoral setting: larches, subalpine grasslands, emblematic wildlife including chamois, ibex (reintroduced), marmot, golden eagle and bearded vulture.
Getting there
Vallée de Chasse (Villars-Colmars, Val d'Allos), track above the hamlet. Occupied by a shepherd during summer grazing.
