Cabane du Taus
The place
The Cabane du Taus (du Valier) is an open pastoral shelter at 1898 m elevation in the Couserans (Ariège, Pyrenees), on the north face of Mont Valier. Equipment: table, 2 chairs, fireplace, a sleeping platform with 3 mattresses and a large upstairs floor in good condition with 2 large double mattresses, up to 8 places possible. Access from the Pla de la Lau car park: GR10 heading east on a steep 3 h climb of 1000 m elevation gain to the Cap de Lauses (1892 m), then a yellow-waymarked PR trail for 15 minutes. Not to be confused with the other Cabanes du Taus (Calabasse at 1530 m, Rouech at 1382 m).
Getting there
From Pla de la Lau, GR10 then yellow PR trail. 3 h, 1000 m elevation gain via the Cap de Lauses (1892 m).
