The place

Pastoral hut at 1946 m in the commune of Vallouise-Pelvoux (Hautes-Alpes), along the Torrent de la Selle, in the Écrins massif. Open year-round, equipped for 4 people: 4 insulating mats, 4 sleeping bags, table and dishes for 6 to 8, gas stove, emergency provisions and maintenance gear. Views over the Écrins, the Cerces and the Queyras. About 2 h 30 on a roughly 8.4 km loop. In spring, before the herds arrive, chamois are often seen coming to lick the salt licks left by the shepherd.
