The place

Sleeping places planned: 5 During the summer grazing season, a herd of cows is kept around the cabin (mid-May to early June / October). The cabin is apparently not permanently occupied during the grazing season (the shepherds come up a few days a week to check on the herd). Some equipment for the herds. Ask at Les Faures. Small building with a single room and a loft, under a corrugated iron roof, with space for a maximum of 5 people. Two windows in good condition. A good stove that draws well without smoking. A table, 2 benches. A few blankets (in questionable condition). No mattress. Adequate tools: broom, shovel, 2 log saws, pickaxe. An outdoor barbecue grill (ring of stones). Table and benches fixed together in wood outside. A guestbook. The door, whose lock is in poor shape, is fastened with an outside chain attached to a wire-mesh leaf that closes by itself thanks to a spring, the whole thing tied together with a strap: it's a bit of a makeshift fix, but livestock must be kept out at all costs!! A cow, being curious and greedy by nature, doesn't know how to open a door from the inside and can die of thirst or hunger if it accidentally locks itself in while the shepherd is away. Water from a captured spring (trough) 15 meters northwest of the cabin. Dry wood to be gathered nearby among the alder bushes upstream. Nice view. Peripheral zone of the Écrins National Park, on the left bank of the Valjouffrey. On the Tour du Valbonnais-Beaumont trail; accessible from La Chalp, or Les Faures, along trails or forest tracks. Short hiking trails pass through here, with a signpost "Cabane de Pré Clos, Alt. 1666 m". Private (?) or Commune de La-Chapelle-en-Valjouffrey (?)
