Cabane de Roybon
Cabane des Clots
The place
Sleeping places planned: 15. The cabin is well made, there are shutters on the windows, good tables inside and outside. Sleeping is on stacked wooden bunks; overall it's not too dirty, except for the floor. Nearby springs if the Roybon spring runs dry: Magdelen and Pissavache; Grand Gour is captured by Villard (thanks to Yannis). A chimney in poor condition, which can quickly fill the shelter with smoke if you don't take care to keep the fire at the back. One corner of the cabin (left-side bunks) lets in water when it rains... INVENTORY: broom. No more saw. No water at the fountain in winter. The dry toilets appear closed in winter. The quickest way is to park at the Clots car park. From there it's a 1-hour climb, either via the GR (arriving from the NW) or through the Fauge valley, past the Fauge hut, then a path runs alongside the private cottage and climbs to the refuge. Access by public transport: bus stop at Villard-de-Lans station. Head to the town hall square to take the uphill pedestrian street, then a small road. At an intersection, simply follow the waymarked path leading to the Pont de l'Amour and then the refuge. Timetables at www.transisere.fr. Vercors Regional Park / ONF (French Forestry Office).
