The place

Sleeping places planned: 1. The interior is fairly cramped, about 4 to 5 m², with only 2 benches fixed to the wall at a right angle, which would allow 1 to 2 people to sleep. 3 to 4 people can shelter in case of bad weather. The door closes properly and there is a shutter on the downhill-side window, but a window next to the door has no fastening. While the roof is well watertight, the wooden walls are disjointed and let in a bit of draught while still protecting well against rain. A small stream flows about 5 m away, which could possibly be used as a water source. It is accessible from the GR trail around Lake Serre-Ponçon by turning off at a cairn, following a well-marked path for about thirty metres towards the hut, which backs onto the rock. The hut was built by a group of volunteers in memory of a friend of theirs who seemed to appreciate the place. It is open to any passing walker.
