French Polar Institute Cabin: A Scientific Heritage in the Wilderness The French Polar Institute Cabin, located deep in a nature reserve, offers 7 sleeping places, 5 of them on mattresses. This cabin is reserved exclusively for professional field missions and requires authorization from the reserve. Layout of the Cabins Living Cabin: Equipped with a gas stove and food supplies. Bedroom Cabin: Has 4 mattresses and can accommodate up to 2 additional camp beds. Tetris Cabin: Fitted with one mattress and dedicated to storing biological samples. Mammoth Cabin: Reserved for food storage. Arbec Cabin: Contains essential scientific equipment. Comfort and Amenities The cabin is gas-heated and benefits from solar panels for energy self-sufficiency. Water must be collected from the river, and the toilets are downstream, past the dwarf. A fixed VHF radio allows communication with the base. Access and Location The cabin is accessible via a 6h30 walk from the Alfred Faure base, following the trail to the west. It is also linked to the BUS cabin (4h30) and the La Pérouse cabin (4h). Helicopter access is also possible.
