Cabane de l'Arc (ou du ruisseau de Pré des Bruns)
The place
Accommodation Capacity Sleeping places planned: 2 Places on mattresses: 3-4 maximum (2 double mattresses, with placement constraints due to the central post of the frame). Blankets in good condition: 3 Facilities and Comfort Stove: Old and a bit cracked, with a basic smoke flue. Possible to make a fire to warm up without too much smoke. No chimney. Available equipment: A few pots, cooking utensils, tools (scythe, axe, hammer) and hardware. Winter Use Preparation for winter in November 2017: Flat stones that had been raised were laid to avoid sinking into the packed earth. Setting up the mattresses requires laying the stones, boards and plastic sheeting to keep out moisture. Difficult winter access due to rapid snow accumulation, with the door often blocked. A wild, remote spot. Access and Route Access from Valefroide: Follow the stream to the southwest to the distinctive rock marking the end of the valley. Climb back up to the northwest, following the path as best you can to reach it via the valley or via the ridges. Route from Valefroide: Pass in front of the waterfall of the Pré des Bruns stream and take the small path on the right just next to the waterfall. The path winds through the forest, emerges around 1900m and leads to the Cabane du Pré des Bruns. Continue climbing above the cabin to 2050m, then cross the main gully to rejoin the rest of the path leading to the Cabane de l'Arc (or du Ruisseau du Pré des Bruns).
